Job Summary


We are seeking an experienced Customer & Freight Operations Officer with strong expertise in freight clearing and forwarding operations.
The role involves managing customer accounts, coordinating shipment clearance, and ensuring full compliance with Nigerian import regulations, including FORM M processing and documentation requirements.
The successful candidate will serve as the key interface between clients, internal operations teams, and regulatory authorities to ensure efficient, compliant, and timely delivery of shipments.


Key Responsibilities


Serve as the primary point of contact for customers on all shipment-related and service delivery communications.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers' supply chain teams.
Monitor shipment clearance processes in collaboration with operations teams until final delivery and confirmation of Proof of Delivery (POD).
Liaise with documentation units for the processing of FORM M and ensure shippers are properly informed of all documentation requirements before shipment is forwarded to Nigeria.
Ensure all shipping documents are accurate and compliant prior to cargo arrival.
Interface with relevant government and industry regulatory agencies, including Nigeria Customs Service, FAAN, NAFDAC, and other statutory bodies.
Ensure compliance with import/export regulations and stay updated on government policies relating to restricted and contraband goods.
Ensure approved systems, procedures, and service delivery standards are followed.
Participate in customer-driven improvement initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency and cost optimisation.
Assist with the timely acquisition and renewal of permits, approvals, and regulatory licenses.


Qualifications & Experience


Minimum of 5 years' experience in customer account management within the supply chain and logistics industry.
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of freight clearing and forwarding operations.
Hands-on experience with FORM M processing and import documentation.
Advanced front desk knowledge of Customs entry procedures, import/export documentation, and port processes.
Proven experience interfacing with Nigeria Customs Service, FAAN, NAFDAC, and other regulatory agencies.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Working knowledge of logistics and supply chain operations.
Excellent communication, coordination, and negotiation skills
