Job Description
We have an exciting role for a Customs Specialist.
The role is based at our Head office in Linbro Park, JHB.
Education
Grade 12 Certificate
1-year customs related qualification at NQF level 3
Knowledge and experience
10 years import/customs experience in the Clearing and Forwarding Industry of which at least 5 years were in a customs framing entry capacity
Must be well versed with Refund/Drawback procedure's and all adjustments
Must understand acquittal process
Commercial, transport, carrier & depot and statutory body documents & stamps
Basic international trade principles. Applicable knowledge of Customs and Excise Act
Geography
Functional business objectives and strategies
Knowledge of INCO Terms Carrier & depot conditions of trade
Principles of Duty calculation
Knowledge of tariffing
National currencies and international codes
Computer literacy
Good communication skills (Verbal &Written)
Situation analysis and problem solving. Good Interpersonal skills
Client orientation. Accuracy and Methodical
Handle pressure and attention to detail
Advantageous attributes
Customer service orientation - able to handle a demanding customer environment.
Good problem solving and decision-making skills.
Dynamic self-starter that works independently and has the ability to handle pressure.
Ability to communicate within the team and contribute to the overall success of the team.
Adaptability as this is a constantly changing environment
Overall responsibilities include
Processing of customs and other statutory body documents required for customs
Audit products against customs and other statutory body requirements
Update Harmonised Customs Tariff and related books
Comply with the requirements of the quality management system
