JOB PURPOSE:

The Data Analyst is responsible for collecting, cleaning, organizing, and analysing data to support SAFIC's research initiatives, innovation programs, and stakeholder engagements. The role ensures high data quality, produces clear visualizations, and delivers actionable insights that inform evidence-based decisions in agriculture and agribusiness

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Data Collection and Management


Collect, clean, validate, and manage datasets from diverse sources, including surveys, partners, and digital platforms.
Support the development of data pipelines and data management workflows.
Ensure high data quality and adherence to data governance and metadata standards.


Data Analysis and Insight Generation


Conduct descriptive and diagnostic analyses to generate insights for SAFIC projects and partners.
Work closely with Data Scientists to support model development, feature engineering, and dataset preparation.


Data Visualization and Communication


Develop dashboards, infographics, and visualization tools to communicate data trends and analytical findings.
Assist in preparing reports, briefs, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.


Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement


Collaborate with internal teams and partners to support data-driven initiatives.
Participate in field data activities and partner engagements when necessary.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:


The post holder will be required to have and demonstrate evidence of the following qualifications, attributes, and skills:
Masters's Degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or related fields.
3-5 years of post masters experience in Data Analysis, Business Intelligence, or Monitoring and Evaluation.
Proficiency in Excel, SQL, and at least one analytical or visualization tool (Power BI, Tableau, R, Python).
Strong data cleaning, wrangling and visualization skills.
Ability to produce clear, accurate and compelling data presentations.
Experience in computer science and working with agricultural or socioeconomic data is an added advantage.
