Job Purpose
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Data Management and Data Governance. The job holder is a subject matter expert responsible for:
Implementing the data warehousing process for the Research Department.
Implement guidelines for data handling.
Track quality and resolve data-related issues.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Responsibilities
Ensuring all research data is placed in a central repository (enterprise data warehouse-EDW)
The role is fundamental in driving the Bank towards its Vision and data-driven future by ensuring accuracy, timeliness and availability of data.
Technical and Operational Responsibilities
Knowing where all research data is located, definitions and meaning, economic and statistical rules, data flows, data quality, documentation.
Coordinating with data compilers in various data units in the Research Department to collate and ensure all research data is up to date in the EDW in a timely manner.
Monitoring data quality and preparing and implementing data quality improvement initiatives.
Analysing data quality issues and proposing and executing resolution.
Work with Research analysts to identify data pain points and propose/execute solutions
Collaborate with database administrators and other data management professionals in the Bank to support analytics in the Department.
Other Responsibilities
Provide support to ensure compliance with Bank policies and processes including staff performance appraisals.
Contribute, as appropriate, to the performance of other functions in the Bank and to the overall achievement of the Bank's mandates and strategic objectives.
Mentor, coach and mobilize teams to achieve Division's objectives.
Support capacity building initiatives at the Divisional level.
Coordinate the team on external collaboration and networking with other institutions
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Mathematics or Statistics or related field from a recognised university.
Master's Degree in Economics, Statistics or related field.
Work Experience
At least five (5) years' experience in compilation of macroeconomic statistics and/or analysis.
At least three years' experience working with relational databases and SQL
Experience working with business intelligence and reporting solutions such as Oracle BI.
Experience working with providers of economic data
Understanding of statistical reporting
Experience working in an agile team.
