Job Description


The Dispatcher is responsible for the centralized deployment, monitoring, and control of all Cargo Handling Equipment (CHE), including distributions of containers planned for loading on vessels across the terminal during assigned shifts.
The role functions as a real-time coordination hub, working closely with Yard Coordinators, Marine & Vessel Coordinators, Equipment Control, and Plant teams toensure optimal equipment allocatlon, minimal idle time, an seamless execution of vesse and yard operation.


Key Duties and Responsibilities
Equipment Deployment & Allocation:


Take full responsibility for deployment and reallocation of all equipment per shift (RTGs, MHCs, Terminal Trucks, Reach Stackers, etc.)
Ensure optimal distribution of equipment based on operational priorities (vessel, yard, gate)
Continuously adjust equipment deployment in response to real-time operational demands
Ensure quick replacement or redistribution of equipment in case of faults
Ensure alignment between yard activities and vessel operations for seamless cargo flow


Monitoring & Control:


Monitor live operations using Terminal Operating System (TOS) and Control Room systems
Track equipment productivity, utilization, and movement across the terminal
Identify idle equipment, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies in real time
Initiate immediate corrective actions to optimize operational performance


TOS Utilization & Data Integrity:


Use TOS to monitor job execution, equipment allocation, and operational progress
Support assignment and reassignment of jobs in coordination with the Control Room and Planning teams
Ensure accuracy of operational data related to equipment deployment and movements
Support the achievement of vessel productivity and yard performance targets


Communication & Reporting:


Maintain real-time communication with all operational stakeholders
Keep accurate records of deployment decisions, changes, and operational issues
Support the preparation of shift reports on equipment utilization and operational performance


Other Responsibilities:


Perform other tasks as assigned by the Line Manager


Minimum Educational Qualifications / Certifications / Years of Experience


Minimum of HND/Bachelor's degree in Maritime studies, Logistics, Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 3 years' experience in terminal operations, dispatch, yard, or control room functions.
Experience in equipment coordination is an advantage.


Skills and Competency Requirements:


Knowledge of Cargo Handling Equipment operations and deployment logic
Ability to interpret operational metrics (productivity, utilization, delays)
Strong understanding of terminal operations (yard & vessel)
Proficiency in Terminal Operating System (TOS).
Strong coordination and multitasking ability
High situational awareness and real-time decision-making
Excellent communication skills.Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment
Analytical mindset (monitoring & optimization focus).
