Our client in the FMCG sector is looking for an experienced and hands-on Distribution and Fleet Manager to join their team.
Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage all outbound distribution to ensure accurate, on-time delivery to customers
Optimise routing and fleet utilisation to drive efficiency and reduce operational costs
Lead daily dispatch operations, including vehicle checks, loading accuracy, and cold-chain compliance
Supervise and manage drivers and offloading staff, ensuring high standards of performance and professionalism
Monitor driver behaviour and performance using tracking systems, promoting a strong safety culture
Manage fleet maintenance, servicing, licensing, and full regulatory compliance
Oversee fuel usage, including diesel procurement, reconciliations, and consumption tracking
Prepare and present operational and cost reports to management
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across distribution and fleet operations
Manage team performance, scheduling, and employee relations in line with company policies
Requirements:
Relevant tertiary qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transport Management, or a related field
Minimum of 6 years' experience in a high-volume FMCG environment
Proven track record in distribution, transport, or fleet management (experience in food production or cold-chain environments advantageous)
Experience managing drivers and operational teams
Strong understanding of cold-chain logistics and transport regulations
Experience working with fleet tracking systems
Strong planning, organisational, and problem-solving abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and related systems
Must be based in Pietermaritzburg or the surrounding areas
