Job Summary


The Draftsman is responsible for preparing detailed technical drawings, layouts, and plans for electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation projects in line with project specifications, industry standards, and company requirements.
The role supports engineering design execution, project implementation, and documentation control to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of drawings for construction and procurement purposes.


Key Responsibilities
Technical Drawing & Design:


Prepare detailed 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD and other approved design software.
Develop electrical schematics, panel layouts, cable routing drawings, and single-line diagrams.
Prepare mechanical layouts, fabrication drawings, and instrumentation hook-up drawings.
Convert engineering sketches and specifications into detailed technical drawings.
Revise drawings based on engineer comments and project changes.


Project Support:


Work closely with Engineers and Project Managers to understand design requirements.
Support preparation of As-Built drawings after project completion.
Assist in preparing drawings for tender submissions and technical proposals.
Ensure drawings align with project BOQ and technical scope.


Documentation & Compliance:


Maintain drawing register and revision control log.
Ensure all drawings follow company naming conventions and standards.
Archive superseded drawings appropriately.
Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards and safety regulations.


Site Coordination:


Conduct site visits where necessary to gather measurements and verify dimensions.
Update drawings based on site conditions and modifications.
Liaise with site engineers to resolve drawing discrepancies.

Accuracy of drawings (minimal revisions required)

Qualifications & Requirements


Minimum of OND/HND/BSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Drafting Technology, or related field.
2 - 5 years' experience as a Draftsman in engineering, construction, oil & gas, or related industry.
Proficiency in AutoCAD (mandatory).
Knowledge of Revit, SolidWorks, or other design software is an added advantage.
Strong understanding of engineering drawings and symbols.
Good attention to detail and accuracy.
