Job Advert Summary
The Driver Instructor (B5) role is responsible for training, assessing and developing Drivers and Delivery Assistants to ensure safe, compliant and efficient transport operations. The successful candidate will conduct driver evaluations, deliver training on K53 standards, defensive driving, vehicle inspections, cold chain requirements, tail lift operations and Material Handling Equipment (MHE), while supporting accident investigations and driver performance improvement initiatives. This role requires a valid Code 14 driver's licence, relevant driver training experience, SETA accreditation or OEM certification, and the ability to travel and work flexible schedules as required.
Requirements
Grade 12 / NQF 4 qualification.
Valid Code 14 driver's licence.
SETA Accreditation and/or OEM Certification.
2 to 4 years' relevant experience in driver training, assessment, transport operations, or a related field.
Fluent Business English.
Experience working with senior management.
Willingness to travel and stay overnight when required.
Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
Sound knowledge of K53 driving standards, defensive driving principles, vehicle inspections, and driver safety practices.
Experience training or assessing drivers of Code 10 and Code 14 vehicles, including the use of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and tail lifts, will be advantageous.

Duties and Responsibilities
Evaluate Drivers in vehicle handling
Evaluate Drivers according to K53 guidelines
Evaluate defensive and economical driving techniques
Evaluate pre and post trip inspections according to company standards
Evaluate internal and external vehicle maneuvering techniques
Advise management on driver performance by analysing scores and behavior data to identify trends requiring corrective action that improves safety, compliance, and efficiency
Evaluate Delivery Assistants and external candidates for possible appointment as Drivers
Conduct vehicle handling training
Train Drivers according to K53 guidelines
Provide training on vehicle housekeeping, pre and post trip inspections, internal and external maneuvering techniques
Comply and adhere to safety rules and regulations
Responsible for assisting with the delivery and pickup of vehicles to and from branches and auction house
Required to complete BRC Food Safety training to ensure compliance and safe practices.
Assist with the rollout and auditing of Group 9 vehicles
Assist with accident investigations and provide remedial training
Conduct Driver training
Provide education on maintaining correct temperatures throughout the supply chain to preserve product integrity
Train on the correct usage, monitoring, and basic troubleshooting of vehicle refrigeration systems
Coach on delivering professional, courteous service and handling customer interactions in line with company values
Share knowledge on the accurate completion, verification, and submission of invoices, PODs, and all relevant delivery paperwork
Train on the importance of following standard operating procedures for safe, timely, and compliant deliveries
Ensure safe and effective use of tail lifts, including pre-operation checks, load handling, and maintenance basics
Perform administrative duties
Prepare temperature probe reports
Conduct driver scores monitoring and analysis
Assist with management of merits and demerits system (R2M's)
Support the tracking and monitoring of vehicles
Assist with issuance and management of fuel cards and fuel tags
Complete and review Group 9 inspections
Coordinate the management and filing of medical records for drivers
Perform verification and tracking of Professional Driving Permits (PDPs)
