Responsibilities
Generic Responsibilities:
Support day-to-day implementation of education project activities across target locations, ensuring activities are delivered according to workplans and timelines.
Conduct regular field visits to monitor project implementation, identify challenges, and provide timely feedback to the Project Officer.
Assist in organising trainings, workshops, meetings and community engagement sessions, including participant mobilisation and logistical arrangements.
Assist in coordinating learning activities in schools, Temporary Learning Spaces (TLS), and community-based education centres.
Maintain accurate project records, beneficiary data, attendance sheets, activity reports, and filing systems.
Support community mobilisation and engagement with School-Based Management Committees (SBMCs), parent groups, youth groups, and community leaders to promote access to education.
Support implementation of safe, inclusive, gender-sensitive, and conflict-sensitive education activities.
Support distribution of education materials, teaching and learning supplies, recreation kits, and other project items, ensuring proper documentation and accountability.
Collect routine monitoring data and support assessments, surveys, and post-distribution monitoring activities.
Assist in identifying children at risk of dropping out and support referral pathways for protection, psychosocial support, and other specialised services where necessary.
Work closely with teachers, facilitators, and incentive staff to ensure adherence to approved teaching schedules and activity plans.
Support accountability mechanisms by receiving and documenting community feedback and complaints and escalating them appropriately.
Assist the Project Officer in preparing weekly updates, activity reports, and other programme documentation.
Perform any other project-related duties assigned by the Project Officer or Area Programme Manager
Compliance and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures, and a specific responsibility for the functions policies and procedures
Specific Responsibilities
Supports the Education Officer in the implementation of the Project Work plan
Monitoring of activities in schools and centers
Work with SBMCs and children's groups to address protection concerns in schools
Work with community facilitators in ensuring regular data collection, reporting and storage
Qualifications
Generic professional competencies:
Have at least 3 years of teaching experience in Primary School, pre-primary or any other formal or non-formal learning institution.
Experience in community development initiatives
High level of personal integrity and sensitivity to adult psychology.
High standard of English methodology including oral skills.
Knowledge on use participatory and learner centred methods, children rights and the global education standards
Experience in Project Management in humanitarian/recovery context
Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:
Be a Nigerian citizen
Hold a bachelor's degree in education from a reputable institution
Must have undergone training in and demonstrate a strong mastery of education and psychosocial support approaches for children.
Have at least 3 years teaching experience
Understanding of child protection issues in schools and working with SBMCs in addressing them
Experience in working with children with disabilities/special needs education
Experience from working in a humanitarian/recovery context
Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity
Strong organizational and team working skills.
Good knowledge of English and knowledge of the local language.
