Key Responsibilities

Machine Maintenance & Troubleshooting


Perform routine and preventive maintenance on textile machines such as carding, drawing, roving, ring frames, winders, and compact spinning systems.
Diagnose and repair electrical/electronic faults on production machinery to minimize downtime.
Install, calibrate, and maintain sensors, drives, PLC components, HMIs, and electronic control boards.
Respond to machine breakdowns promptly and provide detailed corrective action reports.


Utilities & Plant Infrastructure


Carry out maintenance of electrical distribution systems (panels, MCCs, transformers, switchgear).
Maintain backup systems including generators, compressors, and UPS units.
Ensure optimal performance of lighting systems, power factor correction units, and plant wiring.


Instrumentation & Control Systems


Support automation systems, including PLC logic checks, VFD parameterization, and SCADA monitoring.
Repair and calibrate instrumentation (temperature, pressure, humidity, speed sensors).
Assist in IoT/Industry 4.0 integration initiatives such as machine data logging, energy monitoring, and predictive maintenance setups.


Compliance, Safety & Documentation


Ensure all electrical work complies with Kenya Electrical Code, OSHA, and company safety standards.
Maintain accurate maintenance logs, checklists, and root-cause analysis reports (RCA).
Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and continuous improvement programs (Kaizen, 5S).


Continuous Improvement & Support


Recommend upgrades to improve equipment efficiency, reduce energy consumption, or enhance machine reliability.
Support installation and commissioning of new textile machinery and electrical systems.
Train operators and junior technicians on safe machine operations and basic troubleshooting.


Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Qualifications


Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Industrial Automation, Electromechanical Technology, or equivalent.
Electrical Wireman's or Government Trade Test certification is an added advantage.


Experience


2 - 5 years experience in industrial maintenance; textile industry experience preferred.
Hands-on experience with high-speed manufacturing equipment.
