Role Purpose
The Electrical Engineer (Metering & Installations) will serve as MOJEC's in-house Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all deployed metering systems across residential, commercial, and industrial (R, C & I) customers.
The role provides technical leadership for metering installations, commissioning, compliance, and performance optimization, while ensuring adherence to applicable national and international standards.
The position also oversees technical engagement with Service-Based Contractors (SBCs) and other partners involved in metering deployment projects, ensuring quality, safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Engineering Responsibilities:
Act as the technical authority for smart metering systems, including single-phase, three-phase, CT/PT, and advanced metering infrastructure (AMI).
Provide engineering oversight for the design, installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of metering systems.
Review and approve technical drawings, installation methods, and engineering documentation for metering and power system projects.
Ensure metering systems comply with Nigerian and international standards (e.g., NERC, IEC, IEEE, DLMS/COSEM, MID where applicable).
Conduct root-cause analysis on meter failures, communication issues, and field non-conformities, and recommend corrective actions.
Installation & Deployment Oversight:
Provide technical supervision and quality assurance for large-scale meter deployment projects.
Interface with SBCs to ensure compliance with MOJEC installation standards, safety rules, and contractual requirements.
Support field teams during complex installations, audits, and dispute resolution cases.
Ensure proper installation practices for residential, commercial, and industrial customers, including HV/LV interfaces where applicable.
Compliance, Quality & Safety:
Enforce compliance with regulatory, contractual, and safety requirements across all metering activities.
Support internal and external audits related to metering installations, DISREP/NMMP/MAP or other national programs.
Maintain and continuously improve installation standards, checklists, and work instructions.
Project & Stakeholder Management:
Support planning, scheduling, and execution of metering projects to meet deployment targets.
Prepare technical reports, progress updates, and engineering assessments for management and stakeholders.
Collaborate with Distribution Companies (DisCos), regulators, and partners to resolve technical issues.
Training & Capacity Building:
Provide technical training and guidance to installation teams, SBCs, and junior engineers.
Develop and update training materials and technical manuals for metering installations and testing.
