Student Support, Learning & Inclusion
Work closely under the direction of the classroom teacher to assist individual or small groups of students in their learning
Provide one-on-one or small-group support, especially in foundational skills such as reading, writing, and numeracy.
Assist students in understanding instructions, completing tasks, and staying focused.
Carrying out specific instructional & behavioural management responsibility for students, as outlined in IEPs or 504s, or where otherwise directed.
Support the inclusion of students with diverse learning and behavioral needs in both classroom and support settings.
Encourage independence while providing appropriate guidance and reassurance.
Assist students with transitions between activities and routines.
Student Supervision, Care and Well being
Monitor and promote student behavior through the use of the classroom teacher's management/discipline program to promote effective student learning
Supervise students during class, break times, transitions, and school activities
Be attentive to students' emotional and social wellbeing, reporting concerns to the teacher.
Classroom and Instructional support
Under the direction of the teacher, assist with maintaining accurate records of attendance, grades, and textbooks, Review and assist in emergency procedures
Support classroom instruction through guided practice, reinforcement, and hands-on activities, as guided by the classroom teacher
Assist in checking and reviewing the students' daily assigned work and provide encouragement.
Maintain and care for classroom resources - textbooks, materials, and supplies.
Report any maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
Perform school-related duties as assigned by your administrator or supervisor.
Assist in Maintain an organized, clean and engaging classroom environment.
Maintain the classroom water supply
Carry out additional duties as assigned by the teacher or school leadership.
Communication & Collaboration
Maintain an attitude of openness and desire for communication
Communicate clearly, kindly, and respectfully with students at an age-appropriate level.
Maintain workable relationships with colleagues, students, and parents
Attend and participate in school meetings as requested by the administrator or supervisor
Maintain confidentiality regarding student information at all times.
Professional Development
Annually Set and submit annual professional goals to the principal
Participate in scheduled in-service, curriculum planning, and professional development activities as requested
Seek performance feedback from the supervisor as part of the self-evaluation procedure
Take advantage of opportunities to learn of current developments in technology, educational, and instructional theory
Qualifications
Demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord
Exhibit a continuing sense of God's calling to service at Rosslyn Academy
Demonstrate a respect for diversity of culture
Demonstrate an appreciation for the diversity of the body of Christ
Have academic/professional qualifications in Education or related field.
At least 2 years' experience in similar role.
Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
Demonstrate the ability to use technology for word processing, data management, and electronic communications
