We are looking for a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team. A Data Center Engineering Operations Technician role is a hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operation responder.

Key job responsibilities

SAFETY


Follow and maintain the highest safety standards and diligently encourage a world-class safety culture. As a facility owner team, ensure remediation of safety risks/issues in conjunction with other teams. Own the safety initiatives and projects to foster strong safety culture.


ENGINEERING & FACILITY OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE


Operational experience and familiarity with electrical and mechanical equipment, including Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS's), Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS's), Diesel Generators, Chillers, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC), Exhaust Fans, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's), and Transformers.
Troubleshoot events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA's)
Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log-taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.)
Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance
Manual handling and lifting of equipment may be required (weight limits in accordance with health & safety regulations).
Ability to work shifts following established job plans and procedures
Maintain equipment reliability and availability to support customer operations


Technical Work


Read and interpret technical prints and drawings
Use basic understanding of mechanical/electrical/fire systems and associated controls
Work with operational and administrative dashboards
Assist in creating job plans and procedures
Ensure all work meets data center performance metrics


Problem-Solving & Decision-Making


Apply general technical knowledge to determine appropriate tasks and procedures
Escalate to experienced peers when situations require deviation from standard procedures
Assist with mitigating operational risks and excellence issues


Collaboration & Leadership


Work on one or more process paths within the team
Serve as primary contact for local partner teams
Collaborate with peers and escort vendors
Provide training on day-to-day operations to less-experienced team members
Influence peers and team members at site and cluster levels


Basic Qualifications


2+ years of data center or mission critical facilities (example: hospital, military facility, public safety facility, etc.) experience
Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, engineering technology or equivalent
Knowledge of safe electrical practices according to guidelines set by relevant electrical safety supervisory bodies (e.g., ECSSAI and RECI in Ireland)


Preferred Qualifications


2+ years of data center engineering experience
