About the Role


We are seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to oversee the management, maintenance, safety, and operational efficiency of all hospital facilities and infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities
Facilities Operations & Maintenance:


Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programmes for hospital buildings, equipment, and infrastructure.
Ensure continuous availability and functionality of critical hospital systems, including:

Electrical systems
HVAC (Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning)
Plumbing systems
Medical gas systems
Water supply and treatment systems
Backup generators and power systems


Coordinate routine inspections and maintenance schedules.
Manage repairs promptly to minimise operational downtime.


Hospital Infrastructure Management:


Ensure all hospital buildings, wards, theatres, laboratories, offices, and public areas are maintained to high standards.
Plan renovations, expansions, and facility improvement projects.
Monitor facility performance and recommend upgrades where necessary.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and facility assets.


Health, Safety & Compliance:


Ensure compliance with healthcare facility regulations, health and safety standards, fire safety requirements, and environmental regulations.
Conduct regular facility risk assessments.
Lead emergency preparedness planning and coordinate fire drills and evacuation procedures.
Ensure statutory inspections and certifications are completed on schedule.


Vendor & Contractor Management:


Manage relationships with external contractors, suppliers, and service providers.
Evaluate contractor performance and ensure service level agreements are met.
Verify quality of work before approving payments.


Budget & Cost Management:


Prepare and manage the annual facilities budget.
Monitor maintenance expenditure and control operational costs.
Source cost-effective maintenance solutions without compromising quality or patient safety.
Prepare reports on maintenance costs and capital expenditure.


Utilities Management:


Monitor electricity, diesel, water, gas, and utility consumption.
Implement energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.
Ensure uninterrupted utility services across hospital operations.


Team Leadership:


Lead and supervise maintenance technicians, facility officers, and support staff.
Allocate work schedules and monitor team performance.
Identify training needs and ensure continuous professional development.
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and excellent service delivery.


Asset Management:


Maintain an up-to-date asset register for all hospital facilities and equipment.
Track equipment lifecycle and replacement schedules.
Coordinate procurement of maintenance materials and facility-related equipment.


Reporting:


Prepare monthly and quarterly facilities management reports.
Report maintenance activities, operational challenges, project updates, compliance status, and budget performance to management.
Maintain documentation for audits and regulatory inspections.

Requirements
Education:


Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Building Technology, Facilities Management, Estate Management, or a related discipline.
A Master's degree is an added advantage.


Experience:


Minimum of 6 years' relevant experience in facilities management.
At least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Prior experience managing facilities within a hospital or healthcare environment is highly preferred.
The ideal candidates must have the power/HVAC experience but our major need lies in the laboratory equipment maintenance.
