Job Summary
The Factory/Operations Manager will lead and oversee end-to-end factory operations across production, engineering, and warehousing to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality manufacturing of stationery products. The role is responsible for translating business plans into operational execution by optimizing processes, improving productivity, ensuring equipment reliability, and maintaining inventory accuracy. Working closely with Sales, Procurement, and Finance, the role ensures timely production, optimal stock levels, and continuous improvement of operational performance while building a disciplined, high-performing factory team.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Production & Manufacturing Leadership
Lead production planning and execution to meet volume, quality, and cost targets.
Ensure optimal utilization of manpower, machinery, and materials.
Drive adherence to production schedules aligned to sales forecasts.
Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
Engineering & Maintenance Management
Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
Ensure high equipment reliability and minimal downtime.
Drive continuous improvement in plant efficiency and energy usage.
Lead capex planning and implementation of plant upgrades.
Inventory & Warehouse Management
Ensure accurate inventory control for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
Oversee warehousing operations including storage, handling, and dispatch.
Maintain optimal stock levels aligned to production and sales needs.
Implement systems to minimize losses, expiries, and stock variances.
Supply Chain & Cross-Functional Alignment
Collaborate with Procurement for timely availability of raw materials.
Align with Sales on demand forecasts and production planning.
Work with Finance on cost control, budgeting, and reporting
Support new product development through efficient plant readiness.
Cost & Operational Efficiency Management
Drive cost optimization across production, utilities, and logistics.
Monitor and control manufacturing costs vs. budget.
Identify and implement efficiency improvement initiatives.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
Ensure adherence to product quality standards and specifications.
Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.
Maintain compliance with regulatory and internal policies.
Team Leadership & Capability Building
Lead and develop Production Manager, Inventory Manager, and Plant Engineer.
Drive performance management, accountability, and discipline across the factory.
Build technical and leadership capability within the operations team.
Continuous Improvement & Systems Development
Champion a culture of continuous improvement and problem-solving.
Establish structured methodologies (Lean, Kaizen and Root Cause Analysis).
Improve operational reporting, data accuracy, and decision-making systems.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Chemistry, or related field
Professional certifications in Operations, Supply Chain, or Manufacturing (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, e.t.c) are an added advantage
Minimum 7 - 10 years' experience in manufacturing operations within FMCG, Stationery, packaging or other high-volume production environments.
Proven experience managing production, engineering, and warehouse functions
Strong track record in improving efficiency, reducing costs, and leading teams
Experience in fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environments
