MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Matric.
Agricultural Diploma/Degree advantageous.
Min of 3 -5 years previous livestock husbandry & cropping experience
Computer literate
Attention to detail, reliable & honest
Ability to adapt and work in potentially challenging conditions and situations
Horse-riding an advantage
Must have sober habits and be willing to work long hours & weekends when on shift/ when needed.
Must speak Zulu & be good team worker, self-driven & motivated.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Responsible for herd & flock health: Ability to diagnose and effectively treat potential issues & run dosing & drug programme
Understanding of feedlots, shearing, reproductive programs & animal nutritional requirements
Produce bales, silage & mix feed, and monitor usage
Monitor herd fertility, including vet runs for fertility testing & AI of stud sheep
Basic knowledge of fencing and machinery repairs an advantage
Experience in fire burning & veld management
Being mechanically & maintenance orientated
Ability to cull vermin an advantage.
Ability to drive JD sprayers, planters, tractors & combine harvesters an advantage.
Flexible approach to work, happy to fill in where the team needs him.
