Job Summary

The Farm Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily farm operations for both open-field habanero production and greenhouse bell pepper cultivation. The role ensures efficient workforce management, proper agronomic practices, high productivity, and adherence to quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Field & Greenhouse Operations


Supervise all activities related to habanero (open field) and bell pepper (greenhouse) production
Ensure proper land preparation, transplanting, irrigation, staking, pruning, and harvesting
Monitor crop health and ensure timely pest and disease control measures
Implement fertilizer and spray programs as directed


Workforce Supervision


Assign daily tasks to farm workers and ensure work is completed efficiently
Monitor attendance, punctuality, and performance of workers
Train new and existing workers on farm practices and standards
Enforce discipline and safety compliance


Crop Monitoring & Reporting


Regularly inspect crops for pests, diseases, nutrient deficiencies, and water stress
Keep accurate records of farm activities (planting, spraying, harvesting, labor, inputs)
Provide daily/weekly reports to management


Input & Resource Management


Ensure proper use and handling of seeds, fertilizers, chemicals, and tools
Monitor stock levels and report shortages on time
Prevent wastage, theft, or misuse of farm inputs


Irrigation & Greenhouse Management


Oversee irrigation schedules for both field and greenhouse
Ensure proper greenhouse conditions (temperature, humidity, ventilation)
Maintain irrigation systems (drip lines, pumps, etc.)


Harvesting & Post-Harvest Handling


Supervise harvesting to ensure quality and minimize losses
Ensure proper sorting, grading, and packaging of produce
Coordinate with logistics for timely movement of produce


Requirements

Education & Experience


Minimum of OND/HND/BSc in Agriculture, Agronomy, or related field (preferred)
2 - 5 years experience in vegetable farming (especially peppers)
Experience with both open-field and greenhouse farming is an advantage


Skills & Competencies


Strong knowledge of pepper production (habanero and bell pepper)
Good leadership and workforce management skills
Ability to identify pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies
Record-keeping and basic reporting skills
Problem-solving and decision-making ability
Ability to work under pressure and meet targets
