Job Summary


We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Fiber Installation Support Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist our Fiber teams in executing fiber optic cable installations, ensuring efficient and high-quality work.
This role involves supporting field operations, performing various tasks, and collaborating with the team to accelerate project timelines and minimize downtime. The ideal candidate must be reachable and available to work on Saturdays and Sundays


Key Responsibilities


Cable Installation: Assist in running fiber optic cables through ducts, conduits, and other pathways.
HDPE Duct Laying: Lay and manage High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) ducts for fiber optic cable protection and organization.
Interlock Removal: Safely remove interlocks and other obstacles to facilitate smooth cable installation.
Thrust Boring: Perform thrust boring tasks to create pathways for fiber optic cables under roads, pathways, or other obstacles.
Field Support: Provide general support to the Fiber team during installations, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
Collaboration: Work effectively with other technicians, engineers, and project managers to ensure projects are completed on time and to specification.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including cable routes, duct layouts, and any issues encountered.


Requirements


Education: Diploma or degree in a relevant field (e.g., telecommunications, electrical engineering, or related discipline).
Experience: Prior experience in fiber optic cable installation, telecommunications, or a similar field is preferred.


Skills:


Knowledge of fiber optic cables and installation techniques.
Ability to work in various environments, including outdoor and confined spaces.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects, work at heights, and endure varying weather conditions.
Certifications: Relevant certifications in fiber optics or telecommunications are a plus.
