Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Fibre Technician to join our team.
The Fibre Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of fibre optic networks, ensuring that all systems operate efficiently and effectively.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Configuration:
Install and configure fibre optic systems and related equipment on customer premises.
Conduct splice closures, terminations, and testing of fibre optics.
Maintenance and Repair:
Perform routine maintenance on fibre optic networks to ensure optimal performance.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fibre optic connectivity and network performance.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and maintenance activities, including documenting diagrams and schematics.
Provide detailed reports on work completed to management.
Customer Interaction:
Communicate with clients to understand their needs and provide effective solutions.
Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by delivering quality service and support.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to safety protocols and company policies while working on-site.
Ensure all work complies with industry standards and regulations.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in fibre optics preferred.
Experience:
Previous experience in fibre optic installation and troubleshooting is highly desirable.
Familiarity with fibre optic testing equipment and tools.
Skills:
Strong technical knowledge of fibre optics and networking principles.
Proficient in using fusion splice and OTDR equipment.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
Capable of working in various environments, including outdoor and confined spaces.
Ability to lift heavy equipment and work on ladders or at heights.
