About the Role:

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Finance Associate to join our growing Finance team. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced fintech environment, where precision, adaptability, and proactive financial management are the norm.
You will be responsible for supporting core financial operations, maintaining accurate accounting records, and assisting with financial reporting. Because of our focus on energy financing, you will also play a role in monitoring loan portfolios and ensuring smooth financial transactions between SunFi, our customers, and our solar provider partners. You'll work closely with operations, sales, and management stakeholders to ensure our financial processes are efficient, compliant, and scalable.

Responsibilities:

Manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and general ledger entries.
Perform regular bank, payment gateway, and account reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
Assist in the preparation of timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
Support the financial aspects of customer solar financing, including tracking disbursements to energy providers and monitoring customer repayment schedules.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (such as Operations and Sales) to resolve financial discrepancies, process invoices, and optimize payment workflows.
Monitor daily cash flow and assist the management team with budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Ensure compliance with local financial regulations, tax laws, and internal accounting policies.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date financial records using the company's preferred accounting software/ERP systems.
Assist with internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation, schedules, and financial reports.
Proactively identify process bottlenecks or risks within the finance function and propose effective solutions.

Qualification:

3+ years of professional experience in Finance, Accounting, or a similar role, preferably within the fintech, banking, or renewable energy sector.
Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (Progress toward or completion of professional qualifications like ICAN, ACCA, or CFA is an added advantage).
Solid understanding of core accounting principles (IFRS/GAAP), financial reporting, and bookkeeping.
Strong proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling).
Experience handling loan portfolios, credit operations, or payment gateways is a strong plus.
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with a high degree of numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, Agile-like startup environment.
