Role Overview


The Finance Manager will lead AYGF's financial management, ensuring accountability, compliance, efficiency, and sustainability across projects and organizational operations.
The role entails oversight of financial systems, donor compliance, budgeting, reporting, audits, treasury management, and capacity-building of finance staff to support AYGF's mission.


Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership:


Lead annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting processes.
Ensure alignment of budgets with AYGF's strategic plan and project objectives.
Provide financial analysis and advisory support to management.
Support proposal development with accurate budgeting and cost analysis.
Promote cost-efficiency and long-term financial sustainability.


Financial Management & Reporting:


Maintain accurate, up-to-date financial records in compliance with IFRS/IPSAS and donor standards.
Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports (internal and donor-specific).
Monitor budget utilization and advise program leads on variances.
Ensure timely bank reconciliations and financial closings.
Manage cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning.


Donor & Grant Compliance:


Review donor contracts to understand financial obligations.
Ensure funds are utilized strictly in accordance with donor agreements.
Prepare donor financial reports and supporting documentation.
Coordinate donor financial reviews and audits.
Maintain 100% compliance with grant requirements.


Internal Controls & Risk Management:


Strengthen and monitor internal control systems to mitigate fraud and financial mismanagement.
Identify financial risks and propose mitigation strategies.
Ensure segregation of duties and approval processes are adhered to.
Promote transparency, accountability, and ethical financial practices.


Regulatory & Statutory Compliance:


Ensure compliance with Nigerian statutory requirements (PAYE, Pension, NHF, taxes, etc.).
Oversee timely remittance of statutory deductions.
Maintain zero tolerance for financial irregularities.
Ensure full adherence to AYGF's finance and procurement policies.


Audit Coordination:


Prepare for and coordinate annual external audits.
Facilitate donor audits and financial reviews.
Address audit findings and implement corrective actions within agreed timelines.


Procurement & Asset Management Oversight:


Oversee procurement processes to ensure compliance with policy and donor rules.
Ensure proper asset tracking and maintenance of asset registers.
Monitor value-for-money and cost-effectiveness in purchasing.


Team Leadership & Capacity Building:


Supervise, coach, and mentor finance staff.
Build financial literacy and compliance awareness among program teams.
Foster collaboration between finance, programs, and operations units.
Promote continuous improvement in financial systems and processes.


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)


100% on-time submission of financial reports.
Budget variance maintained within ±10%.
Zero statutory non-compliance incidents.
100% donor reporting compliance.
All audit recommendations resolved within timelines.
Minimum 3 months operating reserve maintained.
95% of payments processed within agreed timelines.
Zero unapproved expenditures charged to donor funds.
≥80% satisfaction rating from program teams on finance support.
At least 5% annual overhead cost efficiency improvement.


Qualifications & Experience


Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance (Master's is an advantage).
ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent certification preferred.
Minimum 5 years' experience, preferably in the NGO sector.
Strong knowledge of donor regulations and financial management systems.
