About the Role


We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Finance Manager to lead the financial management function of our financial institution. The successful candidate will oversee financial planning, budgeting, regulatory reporting, treasury management, statutory compliance, and financial risk management while ensuring adherence to industry regulations and corporate governance standards.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting


Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and applicable regulatory requirements.
Develop and monitor the institution's annual budget, financial forecasts, and cash flow projections.
Provide timely financial analysis and performance reports to the Board, Executive Management, and relevant committees.
Monitor financial performance against budgets and recommend corrective actions where necessary.


Regulatory Compliance


Ensure compliance with the requirements of the Central Bank, Securities and Exchange Commission (where applicable), Financial Reporting Council, tax authorities, and other regulatory bodies.
Coordinate timely submission of statutory and regulatory financial reports.
Liaise with external auditors, internal auditors, regulators, tax consultants, and other stakeholders during audits and examinations.
Ensure adherence to Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), and corporate governance standards.


Treasury & Liquidity Management


Manage the institution's liquidity position to ensure adequate funding for operations.
Monitor cash flow, investments, and funding requirements.
Oversee treasury operations, including bank relationships and cash management.
Optimize investment of surplus funds in line with approved investment policies.


Risk Management & Internal Controls


Establish and strengthen internal financial controls to safeguard company assets.
Identify financial risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
Monitor capital adequacy, asset quality, and financial sustainability.
Ensure proper reconciliation of all financial and operational accounts.


Accounting Operations


Supervise the Finance and Accounts Department, ensuring accuracy and completeness of accounting records.
Oversee general ledger management, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed asset management.
Ensure timely reconciliation of bank accounts, customer accounts, investment portfolios, and suspense accounts.


Strategic Finance


Provide financial advice to Executive Management on business expansion, product profitability, pricing strategies, and cost optimization.
Evaluate new business opportunities, investments, and capital expenditure proposals.Support strategic initiatives through financial modelling and scenario analysis.


Leadership


Lead, mentor, and develop members of the finance team.
Promote a culture of accountability, integrity, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.


Requirements

Educational Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
A master's degree in MBA, MSc Finance, or related field is an added advantage.


Professional Qualifications


Applicants must possess a professional certification in ICAN, ACCA, CFA (added advantage)


Experience


Must have Banking or Financial Services experience
Minimum of 6+ years' relevant finance and accounting experience within a microfinance bank, commercial bank, stock brokerage firm, investment company, fintech, or other regulated financial institution.
At least 2 - 5 years in a senior finance leadership or managerial role.
Proven experience in regulatory reporting, budgeting, financial planning, treasury operations, taxation, and audit coordination.
Experience using BankOne is an added advantage.
