Role Summary


The Finance Officer will be responsible for supporting the financial management, accounting, budgeting, reporting, and compliance functions of the organization.
The role will ensure accurate financial records, timely reporting, effective internal controls, and compliance with statutory and organizational requirements.
The Finance Officer will work closely with the Head of Support Services and support programs and management teams on transparent and accountable use of resources.


Key Responsibilities


Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in line with organizational policies and accepted accounting standards.
Prepare payment vouchers, journals, bank reconciliations, cashbooks, and other finance documentation.
Support preparation and monitoring of organizational, project, and donor budgets.
Review and process staff advances, retirements, vendor payments, and other financial transactions.
Ensure all payments are properly supported, authorized, coded, and filed.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management, donors, and regulatory authorities.
Monitor expenditure against approved budgets and provide timely variance analysis.
Support grant financial management, including donor reporting, compliance checks, and budget realignments.
Maintain effective internal controls and support implementation of finance policies and procedures.
Assist with statutory deductions, tax remittances, pension contributions, and other compliance obligations.
Coordinate with auditors during internal and external audits by providing required schedules and supporting documents.
Support procurement and logistics processes by ensuring financial complianceand value-for-money documentation.
Maintain proper filing systems for finance records, both physical andelectronic.
Provide financial guidance to program staff on budget utilization, documentation, and compliance requirements.
Perform any other finance-related duties assigned by the supervisor.


Required Qualifications and Experience


Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma in Accounting, Finance,Economics, or a related field. Five years of progressively responsible finance or accounting experience.
Experience working with a national NGO, international NGO, donor-funded project, or development organization is highly desirable.
Good knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, financial reporting, and internal control procedures.
Professional certification or progress toward certification such as ACA, ACCA, or equivalent is strongly desirable.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
