We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Finance Officer to join our dynamic and growing retail team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial operations, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.

Key Responsibilities:


Drive the company's financial planning and strategy.
Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements and reports.
Handle accounts payable and receivable functions.
Perform bank reconciliations and maintain the general ledger.
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
Reconcile bank statements and manage petty cash.
Assist in budget preparation and expenditure tracking.
Develop financial models to evaluate business performance, new investments, and expansion opportunities.
Ensure compliance with tax and statutory requirements.
Perform risk management by analyzing the organization's liabilities and investments.
Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
Support internal and external audits, accounting procedures, and compliance with financial regulations.
Conduct detailed financial analysis, identify trends, and provide insights to support strategic decisions.
Contribute to year-end audit preparations and liaise with external auditors.
Monitor daily financial transactions and ensure proper documentation and filing of financial records.
Oversee inventory valuation and ensure accurate costing and reporting of stock movements.
Manage payroll processing in coordination with the HR department to ensure timely and accurate salary payments.
Manage relationships with banks, suppliers, and other financial institutions.
Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Prepare and submit statutory returns such as VAT, PAYE, NHIF, and NSSF on time.
Review and approve payment vouchers, expense claims, and procurement requests.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend measures for financial efficiency.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company financial policies.
Participate in the preparation of management presentations and board reports.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior finance or accounting staff.
Continuously improve financial systems, processes, and reporting tools.
Liaise with external stakeholders, including auditors, regulators, and tax authorities.


Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:


Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting from a recognized institution.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K) is an added advantage.
Must have served in a similar position for at least 4 years.
An analytical mind, comfortable with numbers.
At least 4-7 years of experience in a similar finance or accounting role, preferably in the retail industry.
Technology savvy with a high level of proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and accounting software packages (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
