About the Role
The Finance Officer will be responsible for supporting daily financial operations, including provide efficient, timely and accurate financial management information and expertise to enable timely reporting, management, decision-making and safeguard the organization's assets from loss arising from fraud or error.
This role requires sound financial knowledge and attention to detail, directly contributing to RWMT\'s mission of achieving organizational excellence.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
Financial Management
Maintain projects financial records including updating Project cashbooks in Odoo e.g.
General ledgers and journal.
Process and verify financial transactions, payment vouchers, liquidations and other supporting documents
Support in preparation, co-ordination and control of budget including budget forecasts and budget tracking.
Maintain cash flow projections and actual cash analysis.
Review monthly bank reconciliation of all bank accounts.
Ensure monthly trial balances and final accounts are correctly done i.e. income and expenditure & balance sheet.
Maintain proper filing and safeguarding of financial documents and support internal and external audits.
Review payroll and ensure all statutory deductions are filed as per the set timelines.
Ensure monthly financial reports are compiled according to donor specifications.
Review, consolidate and submit accurate and timely financial reports for donors and trustees.
Ensure timely preparation for Audit and effective implementation of recommendations.
Risk Management
Ensure that RWMT does not suffer any financial or material loss through fraud and error by ensuring that cash and all assets are safeguarded by closely monitoring and maintaining an adequate system of internal control.
Ensure adequate insurance for all premises, furniture and equipment.
Ensure that RWMT complies with all the legal, regulatory and audit requirements, including submitting relevant reports to the management.
Inventory Management
Oversee the implementation of inventory checks and stock movement procedures.
Ensure maintenance of Fixed Asset register.
Engage Operations Manager to ensure quarterly procurement schedule is aligned to quarterly budgets.
Ensure timely payments of procurements for project supplies and equipment.
Ensure that Inventory Goods Received Notes are correctly received and signed.
Ensure that periodic inventory counts are undertaken.
Authorize all internal and external requisitions before issues or cash disbursements for procurement is done.
Oversee weekly and monthly inventory reporting
Governance and Management
Ensure adherence to RWMT's Financial Policy and Procedures Manuals, generally accepted accounting standards and statutory reporting requirements.
Attend workshops and forums as organized by the donors or RWMT.
Filing annual returns with Kenya Revenue Authority.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Perform any other duties and responsibilities which may be assigned by the Founding
Trustee/Executive Director, Trustees and management from time to time and which are related to the achievement of RWMT's mission and vision.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Level of education:
Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or other relevant disciplines; OR a Diploma in
Accountancy with relevant experience
Specialized Training/Professional Qualifications
CPA Part II/Section 3 or above; progress toward full CPA qualification is an advantage.
Other competencies:
Detail oriented and well-organized
Requires strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and administration skills.
Job experience:
At least 2 - 3 years relevant experience in accounting/finance.
Experience in an NGO, donor-funded organization, TVET institution or multi-unit organization is an added advantage.
Experience with accounting/ERP syst
Ems, particularly Odoo, is an advantage.
Knowledge of Excel, online banking, financial reporting and accounting systems.
Other information
The role is based in our main office in a rural area in the Western part of Kenya. We are about 15 km from the nearest town. Due to the nature of work working hours might extend on some days.
