Job Summary:
The Fleet Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management, coordination, and performance of the company's fleet within GIG Logistics Technologies Limited\'s fleet network. The role ensures optimal fleet utilization, minimal downtime, cost efficiency, and adherence to safety and compliance standards to support last-mile and inter-state delivery operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Fleet Operations Management
Manage daily deployment of vehicles (bikes, vans, trucks) to meet delivery schedules.
Ensure availability of fleet for last-mile and line-haul operations.
Coordinate with hub and gateway teams to ensure smooth shipment movement.
Fleet Utilization & Performance
Monitor vehicle utilization and ensure optimal allocation across routes.
Track key operational metrics such as deliveries per rider, turnaround time, and idle time.
Identify and resolve operational inefficiencies quickly.
Maintenance & Repairs
Implement preventive maintenance schedules for all vehicles.
Ensure prompt resolution of breakdowns and minimize vehicle downtime.
Liaise with workshops and vendors to ensure quality and timely repairs.
Driver & Rider Supervision
Supervise drivers and riders to ensure productivity and discipline.
Monitor attendance, performance, and compliance with company policies.
Conduct regular training on safety, customer service, and operational standards.
Fuel & Cost Management
Monitor fuel usage and prevent wastage or fraud.
Track and manage operational expenses related to fleet activities.
Support initiatives to reduce cost per delivery and improve efficiency.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure all vehicles have valid documentation and meet regulatory requirements.
Enforce adherence to safety standards and safe driving practices.
Report and investigate accidents/incidents and implement corrective actions.
Technology & Reporting
Utilize fleet management systems (GPS tracking, telematics) for monitoring.
Generate and analyze reports on fleet performance and operational KPIs.
Provide regular updates to the DGM, Fleet Operations.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
Manage relationships with third-party transporters and maintenance vendors.
Ensure adherence to SLAs and service standards.
Collaborate with operations, customer service, and finance teams.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Fleet availability rate
Vehicle downtime
Deliveries per rider/driver per day
Cost per delivery / cost per km
Fuel consumption efficiency
Maintenance turnaround time
Accident/incident rate
On-time dispatch and delivery performance
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
5 - 8 years' experience in fleet or logistics operations.
Experience managing drivers/riders and multi-vehicle operations.
Familiarity with last-mile delivery operations is a strong advantage.
