Job Summary

CIB Front Office Technical Analysis Team is currently looking for an Analyst to perform the following functions:


Assist the trader by performing deal management activities throughout trade life cycle post-BO Confirmation, as requested by the trader
PnL attribution on T0 explaining the daily PnL into the market moves and Greeks and comparing against trader flash ensuring no unexplained PnL
Perform all trade amends on trades in BO and BOBO status as requested by Front Office
Curve and static data maintenance and review
Trader assistant function, including helping with PnL, funding and risk investigations and assisting with life cycle events
Analyse data from trading systems from a PnL and risk perspective for various groups including Compliance, Front Office, Risk and operations.
Investigate and explain differences in values between trading system and attribution system
Create new portfolios in the systems on request


Job Description

Accountability: General control


Explain new deal and total PnL and justify material unexplained.
Perform deal review and amendments as requested.
Follow proper procedure to implement new curves/volatilities and valuation static
Monitor and investigate differences between valuation system and attribution, assisting the Front Office to ensure deals are meticulously managed without incurring any operation loss events.
Review valuation exceptions in the Valuation Group Exceptions.
Review all the daily controls, this among others entail the following: Reset Exceptions, CAB Report, Valuation Group monitoring for all financial products, Terminated trades report.


Accountability: Working directly with Front Office


First point of contact for FO to investigate causes of valuation errors, anomalies in position risk, cash flow management queries and assisting traders to terminate trades.
Assess and notify Front Office of economic impact of changes in valuation static and amends.
Participate in pre-implementation meetings pertaining to new deals or existing deals being restructured as support to the Front Office.
Book trades into Simulated status as requested by Front Office on an ad hoc basis, ensuring the trades are in line with legal requirements.
Proactively assist the trader to manage deal milestones and ensuring applicable trackers and check lists are adhered to.
Where required liaise with upstream/downstream parties to resolve queries, working jointly with specialist teams e.g. Tax and Legal
Adhoc MI - prepare and provide relevant information as and when requested by Front Office, and other functional units.

Develop own knowledge of the valuation systems
Know the intimate details of the products we trade.
Develop a bridging relationship between FO, PCG, Ops, IT and other support areas.
Develop soft communication abilities and be able to explain difficult concepts with regards to trader strategies and the Greeks to non-Front Office staff.
Proactively investigate new and better ways to enhance the trade management environment by regularly evaluating the effectiveness of all procedures and controls

2- 3 years experience
Degree in mathematics, statistics or financial engineering, or if another financial/accounting degree - a must
Ability to code in VBA ,Python or any other language is an advantage
CFA and FRM desirable
