Our client, a leading organization in the telecommunications sector, is seeking an experienced FTTH Installation & Support Technician to join its technical team. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional with experience in fiber optic installation, testing, maintenance, and customer technical support.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality fiber connectivity services while ensuring network reliability and excellent customer experience.

Responsibilities


Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground fiber optic feeder, distribution, and drop cables.
Install and maintain indoor and outdoor fiber access terminals, joint boxes, and fiber distribution pedestals.
Perform fiber splicing and cable termination to ensure secure, high-quality connections.
Test and troubleshoot fiber optic networks using OTDRs and other testing equipment.
Diagnose and resolve technical faults both onsite and remotely while providing excellent customer support.
Conduct site surveys using GPS-enabled applications and interpret network design drawings and installation plans.
Perform preventive maintenance to optimize network performance.
Maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance activities, equipment, and inventory.
Prepare technical reports using Microsoft Office applications.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and workplace safety procedures.


Qualifications


Diploma in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Minimum of 2 years' hands-on experience in fiber optic installation and maintenance.
Experience with fusion splicing, fiber termination, and OTDR testing.
Good understanding of fiber optic industry standards and best practices.
Professional certifications such as CFOT or FOA will be an added advantage.
Proficiency in fusion and mechanical fiber splicing.
Experience using fiber optic testing equipment, including OTDRs, power meters, VFLs, and fusion splicers.
Knowledge of structured cabling standards and network infrastructure.
Basic electrical installation knowledge and safety awareness.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and network diagrams.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Computer proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Valid Class BCE driving licence.
Ability to lift and carry technical equipment.
Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and night shifts when required.
