Job Responsibilities
The Galley Janitor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the galley and food service equipment to ensure a safe and hygienic environment during meal preparation and serving processes. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Cleaning and Sanitization:
Cleaning and sanitizing food service equipment, including cooking utensils, serving tools, and machinery, in compliance with sanitation guidelines and standards.
Ensuring the galley, serving areas, and all food preparation tools are maintained in a high state of cleanliness to support hygienic meal preparation and service.
Performing routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and wiping down surfaces to prevent buildup of food debris or contaminants.
Maintenance of Sanitary Conditions:
Maintaining cleanliness standards during meal preparation and serving processes by dealing promptly with spills and waste.
Properly disposing of waste and maintaining trash receptacles in compliance with sanitation practices and safety procedures.
Ensuring all cleaning and sanitization tasks comply with health and safety guidelines as well as Navy standards.
Support Duties:
Restocking cleaning supplies and communicating with supervisors to ensure adequate inventory is maintained.
Assisting in the proper storage and maintenance of kitchen tools and equipment to avoid damage and ensure operational readiness.
Supporting the galley team to prepare a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen and dining environment for meal service.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 1-2 years of experience in janitorial or industrial cleaning roles, preferably in food service environments.
Basic knowledge of cleaning and sanitization standards, including health and safety practices for food service areas.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow cleaning schedules and meet cleanliness expectations.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain focus on hygiene during high-demand meal preparation periods.
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
Employees must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
