MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:


Grade 10: NQF 2
6 months relevant experience preferably in the construction industry as a General Assistant
Valid Code EB Drivers license and PDP would be an advantage
Basic Literacy - Must be able to understand the instructions given verbally or in writing
Work conditions - Must be able to work at heights, confined spaces (in buildings and underground), wet conditions.
Must be willing to work in adverse weather conditions
Lift and carry heavy objects - Should be able to lift and carry heavy objects up to 50 kg
Physical Requirements - The physical attributes required for the performance of tasks associated with specific
key performance areas in this job necessitates that the incumbent be physically fit and able - bodied .
Proficient in at least two of the Official Languages of the Western Cape


KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:


Assisting the infrastructure Services Department with labour support for activities associated with the various Divisions.
Assisting with repair and maintenance work of roads and storm water infrastructure.
Cleaning storm water rivers, streams, pipes, trenches, ditches, channels, culverts and informal storm water networks.
Unblocking blocked structures and storm water pipes.
Spray weed killer where needed.
Erecting road furniture (e.g. sign boards, guard rails, fences. Etc.)
Preparing work area prior to work and cleaning up the ork area once job has been completed.Cleaning the buildings (floors, windows, etc.)
Assisting with minor maintenance work at Municipal buildings such as changing fused bulbs, replacing broken glass, etc.
Assisting with masonry work including mixing of materials
Assisting with carpentry work including cutting material to size, screwing and unscrewing nuts and bolts, cleaning the site, etc.
Assisting with painting, preparing the area to be painted and cleaning afterwards.
To ensure effective workflow within the Department and that tasks are conducted as speedily as possible.
Cleaning of the depot (e.g. sweeping the floor, stacking goods on the racks, general tiding up).
Cleaning toilets, cisterns, urinals and basins at various municipal site/ areas and replacing toilet paper in holders.
Removing all litter from area and emptying trashcans.
Loading and off - loading material/ equipment/ tools, etc.
Assisting with driving vehicles as and when required,
Assisting operators/ drivers with tasks/ activities related to specific vehicle/ plant (e.g. vacuum truck, water truck, grader, TLB, tipper truck, etc.).
Assisting Municipality on an ad hoc basis with various activities as and when required.
