Objective
The Head of ESG and Sustainability is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the Group's Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy across all business operations. The role ensures compliance with applicable environmental, social, governance, and responsible sourcing requirements while promoting sustainable business practices that enhance operational performance, stakeholder confidence, and long-term value creation.
Key Responsibilities
ESG Strategy and Governance
Develop and implement the Group ESG and Sustainability Framework.
Lead the integration of ESG principles into business strategy and decision-making.
Monitor emerging ESG trends, regulations, and industry standards relevant to the Group.
Provide periodic ESG reports and recommendations to Executive Management and the Board.
Monitor adherence to responsible sourcing and supply chain due diligence requirements.
Support anti-corruption, transparency, and ethical conduct initiatives.
Environmental Management
Overrsee environmental compliance across all operations.
Monitor environmental risks and mitigation measures, including waste management, emissions, water use, biodiversity, and rehabilitation activities.
Coordinate environmental audits, assessments, and regulatory reporting.
Promote resource efficiency and environmental stewardship initiatives.
Social Responsibility and Stakeholder Engagement
Develop and implement community engagement and social investment programmes.
Support initiatives that promote local content, employment, and community development.
Establish and manage stakeholder engagement and grievance mechanisms.
Ensure alignment with human rights and responsible business principles.
Sustainability Reporting and Disclosure
Lead the preparation of ESG reports, sustainability reports, and disclosures.
Develop ESG performance metrics, dashboards, and monitoring systems.
Maintain ESG data collection and reporting processes across subsidiaries.
Support investor, lender, regulator, and stakeholder information requests relating to ESG performance.
Responsible Mining and Responsible Sourcing
Support compliance with Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) standards and other relevant industry frameworks.
Develop responsible sourcing policies and supplier due diligence processes.
Conduct ESG risk assessments relating to operations, projects, and suppliers.
Promote best practices in responsible mining and mineral value-chain management.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Risk Management
Identify ESG-related risks and opportunities across the Group.
Integrate ESG considerations into enterprise risk management processes.
Develop mitigation plans and monitor implementation.
Qualification and Experience
Master's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Management, Business Administration, Corporate Governance, or a related field will be an advantage.
Minimum of 8 - 10 years of relevant professional experience.
At least 5 years in a senior ESG, sustainability, environmental, governance, compliance, or related leadership role.
Experience within mining, natural resources, manufacturing, commodities, or extractive industries is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, sustainability reporting, and ESG programme implementation.
Professional Certifications in sustainability, ESG, environmental management, responsible sourcing, governance, risk management, or related disciplines will be an added advantage.
