Job Purpose:
Reporting to Director Human Resources, the Head of Security is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of all university security operations to ensure a safe, secure, and conducive environment for learning, teaching, research, and administrative functions. The role ensures that security systems, policies, and procedures are effectively designed, implemented, and monitored in compliance with national regulations and university policies.
Key Responsibilities
Asset Protection and Control
Oversee mechanisms for safeguarding university property, equipment, and facilities.
Implement systems for monitoring and accountability of institutional assets.
Academic & Professional Qualifications
Master's Degree in Security Studies, Criminology, Public Administration, or a related field.
Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences, Criminology, Law, Public Administration, or a related discipline.
Professional certification or Diploma in Security Management, Disaster Management, or related field.
Membership in a recognized professional security or risk management body.
Certificate of Good Conduct.
Proficiency in computer applications and security management systems.
Experience
Minimum of six (6) years' relevant experience in security management, preferably within a large institution or university setting.
At least three (3) years in a senior investigative or security management role.
Demonstrated experience in managing security operations, risk assessments, and incident response.
