Requirements :
Grade 12 Certificate. A Basic R.425 or equivalent qualification that allows for registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. Midwife and Accoucheur.
Diploma in any SANC R.212 or R.48 programmes or Postgraduate Diploma qualification in any R.635 Programme offered at the campus (Postgraduate Diploma in Adult Critical Care Nursing, Emergency Nursing, Midwifery, Nephrology Nursing, Occupational Health Nursing, Oncology and Palliative Nursing, Orthopaedic Nursing, Perioperative Nursing and Primary Care Nursing) registered with SANC.
A Degree in Nursing Education and Nursing Administration, master's degree in nursing or public health. Current registration with SANC. Moderator and Assessor certificates.
Minimum of 9 years' appropriate/recognized nursing experience after registration as a Professional Nurse, Midwife/ Accoucheur. A minimum of five (5) years' recognizable experience in Nursing Education after obtaining a post-basic qualification in Nursing Education.
5 years' experience in Student Affairs Department as a Professional Officer will be an added advantage. (3) years' recognizable experience in Psychiatric Nursing/ Counselling Department.
Thorough knowledge and application of the SANC legislation, Nursing Standards, public service prescripts, legislation relevant to Higher Education, and experience in planning, organizing, monitoring, and evaluation. Good communication, supervisory, report writing, and presentation skills. Ability to work in a team and under pressure. Computer literacy (MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint). A Valid driver's license.
Duties :
Manage and supervise the Student Affairs, Development, and Counseling Departments, including planning, implementing, and overseeing activities across these departments. Provide personal, social, academic, and administrative guidance. Determine and interpret Postgraduate Diploma students' needs on an individual and collective basis.
Advocate for, plan, and implement strategies to resolve problems where necessary. Implement educational programs to enhance the student learning experience. Manage support services for all students. Assist with the provision of the employee wellness service. Develop reports and monitor reporting systems and instruments.
Manage student termination, course extension, and appeals processes. Plan and organize students' graduation and prize-giving ceremonies. Participate in formative and summative examination processes, including entering assessment marks and publishing results.
Participate in policy, guideline, norm, and standard development. Manage pre-course assessments, student recruitment, selection, and admission processes. Ensure knowledge of SANC and CHE accreditation processes and requirements to ensure that all Postgraduate Diploma programs offered are fully accredited. Manage, supervise, monitor, and report on all Student Affairs and Student Counselling staff. Facilitate the department's budget needs.
