Job Overview
The position holder will be responsible for providing clinical and administrative leadership to the nursing unit, ensuring delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care in line with established standards, policies, and professional guidelines within the group.
Experience
Minimum of 15 years' experience in a busy hospital setting.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or KRCHN
Valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK)
Valid certifications (ATLS/ACLS/EPLS/ETAT as applicable)
Relevant specialization diploma
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to manage clinical teams and hospital operations
Competence in emergency response and critical care procedures
Knowledge of a wide range of medications and clinical practices
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership and direction for nursing services across the hospital
Establish and maintain nursing governance frameworks and quality standards
Develop, monitor, and evaluate nursing quality indicators and performance metrics
Ensure delivery of safe, efficient, and patient-centered nursing care
Lead implementation and review of nursing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Oversee staffing, training, performance management, and staff development
Ensure proper resource utilization, including equipment, supplies, and inventory
Promote a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and accountability
Oversee patient admission, care coordination, and discharge processes
Mentor and coach nursing staff and team leaders
Lead departmental planning, reporting, and continuous medical education (CMEs)
Support emergency response and critical care interventions where required
Drive excellent customer service and patient satisfaction initiatives
