Job Description
We are seeking a hands-on Human Resources Manager to lead the HR function and act as a strategic partner to the executive team. This role combines high-level HR strategy with strong operational execution, with a particular focus on payroll, compliance, and employee relations.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll & Benefits Administration
Manage the full end-to-end payroll cycle using systems such as PaySpace and Pastel Payroll
Oversee ESS processes and ensure accurate, timeous payroll execution across multiple entities
Administer employee benefits including medical aid and pension funds
Act as the primary liaison between employees and external service providers
Strategic HR Leadership
Partner with senior and executive management to align HR strategies with business objectives
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of HR generalists
Ensure departmental KPIs and service delivery standards are met
Support workforce planning and organisational structuring across departments
Compliance, Skills Development & Employment Equity
Drive recruitment in line with Employment Equity (EE) and transformation targets
Manage SETA requirements, including learnerships and related programmes
Prepare and submit Workplace Skills Plans (WSP) and Annual Training Reports (ATR)
Maximise access to discretionary and mandatory training grants
Employee Relations & Industrial Relations
Represent the company in union engagements and consultations
Manage CCMA processes, including case preparation and employer representation
Ensure compliance with South African labour legislation and internal policies
Requirements
Degree in Human Resources or related field
Minimum 5 years' experience in an HR Manager role
At least 2 years' hands-on experience with PaySpace, Pastel Payroll, and ESS (essential)
Proven experience managing full payroll functions across multiple entities
Strong leadership and team management experience
Solid background in Industrial Relations (IR)
In-depth knowledge of South African labour legislation
Strong MS Office skills (Excel and PowerPoint essential)
Exposure to HR Information Systems (HRIS)
Experience in Learning & Development, Employee Engagement, and Wellness initiatives
