Job Summary
The HR Officer will be stationed primarily at the mining sites, ensuring the consistent application of company policies and practices across daily Open Cast and Highwall Mining operations.
This role involves supervising workforce conduct, monitoring compliance with safety and attendance standards, and serving as a link between site activities and the Human Capital Management (HCM) Unit.
The officer plays a vital role in maintaining discipline, promoting safety adherence, and supporting workforce coordination during mining operations.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and monitor personnel working in the mining operational areas to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Conduct spot checks to confirm that assigned tasks are carried out correctly and that safety protocols are observed.
Enforce proper conduct onÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂsite, addressing or escalating cases of misconduct as necessary.
Participate in roll calls before and after mining shifts to verify attendance and manpower adequacy.
Ensure staff allocation aligns with operational plans, safety requirements, and manpower needs.
Monitor adherence to attendance and safety regulations within the mining environment.
Compile and submit daily and weekly workforce reports, with emphasis on Highwall Mining operations.
Support onboarding of newly employed site workers and provide orientation on company policies and expectations.
Assist in organizing sensitization sessions related to the ZCL Employee Handbook and workplace conduct.
Collaborate with Safety Officers and Site Supervisors during inspections or safety reviews.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the HCM Supervisor/Head - General Services.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or a related social science field.
Minimum of 2 years' experience in HR operations, employee relations, or supervisory roles, preferably within mining, construction, manufacturing, oil & gas, or other highÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂactivity operational environments.
Strong leadership, coordination, and workforce management abilities, with proven experience supporting field-based teams.
High level of attention to detail, confidentiality, and integrity, especially in documentation, reporting, and compliance monitoring.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with HR information systems or digital reporting tools.
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in fast-paced, dynamic, or semi-remote operational settings.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse workforce groups, including technical and field personnel.
