Job Summary
The HR Officer will support the Human Resources department in managing recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and HR administration across corporate and field operations. The role requires someone who understands the unique workforce structure of the oil and gas industry, including site staff, contractors, engineers, and administrative personnel.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding
Manage end-to-end recruitment for technical, field, and corporate roles.
Liaise with department heads to understand manpower needs.
Coordinate interviews, background checks, and employment documentation.
Lead onboarding and induction processes for new hires, including site safety compliance
Employee Records & HR Administration
Maintain accurate employee records, contracts, and documentation.
Manage staff database and HRIS systems.
Prepare HR reports, staff analytics, and workforce data for management review.
Payroll & Benefits Support
Work with finance to ensure accurate payroll processing.
Manage staff benefits, pensions, insurance, and allowances (especially field allowances).
Monitor leave records, rotations, and time-off schedules for field workers.
Employee Relations
Handle staff queries, grievances, and disciplinary processes.
Ensure fair implementation of company policies and labour laws.
Promote positive employee engagement and welfare initiatives.
Performance Management
Support performance appraisal processes.
Track KPIs and assist department heads with performance documentation.
Identify training and development needs.
Compliance & Policy Implementation
Ensure compliance with Nigerian Labour Laws, DPR/NUPRC regulations, and internal policies.
Assist in developing and updating HR policies suitable for oil & gas operations.
Ensure proper documentation for audits and regulatory inspections.
Training & Development
Coordinate staff training programs, especially HSE and compliance training.
Maintain training records and certifications for field staff.
Requirements
B.Sc/HND in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field.
2 - 4 years HR experience (preferably in Oil & Gas, Engineering, or Construction).
Strong knowledge of Nigerian labour laws.
Experience handling field staff, contractors, and technical workforce is a strong advantage.
Proficiency in HR software, Microsoft Office, and HRIS.
