Are you an experienced Labour Law/Industrial Relations professional looking to make an impact in a dynamic environment? G4S South Africa is seeking a dedicated Industrial Relations Officer to join our team.




In this role, you will play a crucial part in managing and mitigating labor risk across the region. You will serve as a strategic support function to HR Business Partners and management, ensuring that all disciplinary matters, incapacity inquiries, grievances, and CCMA cases are handled with strict adherence to the Labour Relations Act (LRA), company policies, and health and safety standards.

Key Performance Areas

Effective performance of Labour relations function in relation to disciplinary matter


Competent representation of the company in all disputes referred to the CCMA and for Conciliation and Arbitration
To effectively preside all disciplinary hearings within the region and ensure that all matters are dealt with consistently and that the guidelines as set out in the LRA as well as the company disciplinary procedure is applied
Maintain accurate disciplinary dockets and records of proceedings
Liaise with HR Business Partner over matters requiring input and guidance
Effectively manage diary and calendar to meet SLA timeframes
To effectively preside over all incapacity and poor work performance enquiries.
To effectively complete the S189A process from consultation until termination phase and have excellent knowledge regarding the requirements of a fair selection process when contemplating termination.
To effectively preside over grievance enquiries and general employee queries as and when directed by management.


Ensure compliance with Company policy and ensure effective reporting


Ensure employees are aware of the company rules and regulations
Compile reports on statistics and trends for Management
Keep an active case register (CCMA, discipline and Labour Court)


Health and Safety


Participate in the design/ development/ review/ implementation and monitoring of the branch/region/national safety plans for each year.
Participate in safety forums created by company for example safety meetings and safety talks
Report all safety incidents to the relevant people
Discuss all safety incidents on all levels
Follow-up on any activities assigned through safety meeting/committee/representative/management
Attend safety education and refresher programmes
Comply with safety policies and procedures at workplace
Distribute safety information as and when required
Wear protective clothing all the time


Ideal Candidate

Qualifications & Experience


Grade 12/Matric Equivalent
Tertiary Qualification in HR Management, Industrial Relations, BA Law or Bcom Law
Minimum 1 year experience in an Employee Relations/Labour Law role
Valid Driver's Licence & Own Vehicle Essential
Willing to undertake business travel within the province as needed.
