Role Description


The Internal Auditor is a full-time, on-site role based in Port Harcourt, responsible for evaluating and improving the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes. The role involves planning and executing internal audit engagements, reviewing financial and operational records, and assessing compliance with company policies, procedures, contracts, and regulatory requirements. The Internal Auditor will prepare clear audit reports, document findings, recommend corrective actions, and follow up on the implementation of agreed improvements. Day-to-day tasks include performing financial and operational audits, analyzing data and trends, identifying potential control weaknesses or fraud risks, and collaborating with finance, project, and operations teams to enhance processes. The role also supports management with ad hoc reviews, contributes to the development of audit methodologies, and helps promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.


Responsibilities


Conduct regular audits of project sites, payroll, procurement, and warehouse operations to ensure adherence to company policies.
Monitor strict enforcement of company regulations, particularly regarding expenditure and site logistics, to mitigate financial risk.
Perform detailed reviews of site expenditures, labor funds, and contractor payments to ensure funds are utilized according to approved budgets.
Collaborate with Management to identify inefficiencies in resource allocation and provide actionable reports for process improvement.


Qualifications


Ability to prepare and review comprehensive audit reports, including documentation of findings, risks, and recommendations.
Must be a Married female that resides in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Strong analytical skills for interpreting financial data, project costs, and operational metrics, and for identifying trends and anomalies.
Solid understanding of finance principles and accounting practices, preferably within construction, engineering, or infrastructure sectors.
Effective communication skills for presenting audit results, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and engaging with stakeholders at different levels.
Experience conducting financial audits and internal control assessments, with familiarity in risk-based audit approaches.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIA) is an advantage.
Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and standards applicable to construction and EPC operations in Nigeria.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and basic use of audit or ERP software; strong attention to detail and integrity.
Ability to work on-site in Port Harcourt, manage multiple assignments
