Tasks & responsibilities
The Investment Analyst is expected, as a vital member of the team of investment professionals, to support the diverse aspects of the overall investment operations and processes, including pipeline creation, due diligence, deal execution, portfolio management and investment exits. The Investment Associate must be comfortable with managing senior members of potential or actual portfolio companies while possessing a keen analytical mind and skills for comprehensive financial analysis of these potential and actual portfolio companies. Financial analysis includes various types of valuation techniques including DCF and Multiples, cash flow analysis and profitability analysis.
Some of the main tasks and responsibilities are:
Screen potential businesses for investment, based on various operational and financial criteria.
Establish contact with new pipeline partners, including giving presentation on iungo capital. Manage local partners, reassuring pipeline generation.
Conduct initial screening of pipeline companies, and in-depth credit appraisal analysis based on current assets and potential future income.
Create financial projection models for company income, balance sheet and cash flow.
Conduct profitability analysis of overall business and business units.
Conduct ESG and impact assessment activities.
Prepare investment documentations.
Support deal execution process.
Support business angel ecosystem enhancement activities: organize events for business angels, source new angel investors with an interest to co-invest, procure signing of MoUs
Support portfolio management, helping investee companies to prepare progress reports and monitor them against investment milestones.
Conduct market research in sectors related with pipeline and/or investee companies
Expected background & skills
The Investment Analyst is expected to possess the following skills:
At least 3 years of experience in credit appraisal and due diligence of business organizations.
Previous private equity or banking experiences.
Intuitive understanding of Kenya's financial, regulatory and operational environment with broader familiarity across East Africa.
Strong communication skills both written and spoken.
Strong command of English language required.
Past experiences working with senior members of for profit business organizations.
Ability to work both independently and in a team, with an entrepreneurial drive that thrives in a start-up environment.
