Our client, a global leader and specialist in providing digital identity solutions, seeks to hire a highly skilled IT Expert - Biometric Identity System. They will support and maintain an extended end-to-end biometric identity systems deployed across Kenya. Reporting to the General Manager, the expert will be the key technical point of contact for the customer and ensure smooth operations, and troubleshooting.
Job Responsibilities
System Administrator
System Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
End-to-end support of the biometric identity system, including field devices, data collection, and backend processing.
Diagnose and resolve issues across hardware, software, and network layers.
Ensure high availability and performance of the AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification System).
Database Management:
Administer and optimize Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
Ensure data integrity, security, and efficient biometric matching
Production Support:
Collaborate with the local production team responsible for ID document manufacturing.
Ensure seamless integration between biometric data and ID card production systems.
Customer Relationship & Communication:
Act as the primary technical interface with the customer.
Provide regular updates, incident reports, and performance metrics to the HQ team.
Facilitate coordination between local operations and HQ directives.
Team Engagement & Leadership:
Motivate and guide the local technical team.
Promote best practices and ensure alignment with HQ standards.
Foster a collaborative and proactive work environment.
Other Requirements
Education & Technical Skills:
Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
Strong background in systems, networks, databases, and cybersecurity.
Hands-on experience with Oracle and PostgreSQL.
Master Linux and Windows administration and Active Directory.
Familiarity with biometric systems and AFIS platforms is a plus.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years in IT operations or system integration.
Experience in production environments, preferably in identity or document issuance.
Proven track record of working in customer-facing roles.
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong reporting and documentation capabilities.
Ability to work independently and in multicultural teams.
Leadership and mentoring abilities.
Additional Information:
Language: Fluent in English
Travel: Frequent travel within Kenya may be required to provide support on capture unit
Duration: Long-term assignment with potential for extension.
