Job Description
The Junior Accountant supports the finance department in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
The role involves assisting with day-to-day accounting operations such as bookkeeping, reconciliations, payroll support, and documentation of financial transactions.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
Record daily financial transactions in accounting systems.
Ensure proper documentation and filing of financial records.
Assist in processing vendor invoices and payments.
Monitor incoming payments and follow up on outstanding receivables.
Maintain records of supplier and client transactions.
Assist in preparing monthly bank reconciliations.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
Support the preparation of monthly financial reports.
Assist in compiling financial statements and management reports.
Assist with payroll preparation and verification.
Maintain payroll records and employee payment documentation.
Track expenses and ensure they are within approved budgets.
Assist in preparing expense reports and cost analysis
Assist in preparing documents for statutory filings and tax compliance.
Ensure adherence to internal financial policies and procedures.
Provide support during internal and external audits.
Prepare requested financial documents and reports.
Maintain organized financial files and documentation.
Assist senior finance staff with other accounting tasks as required.
Requirements
Interested candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Must have completed NYSC)
1-3 years of accounting or finance-related experience
Basic knowledge of Nigerian financial regulations and tax requirements is an added advantage.
Professional certification, such as ICAN (ATS level), ACCA (foundation level), or equivalent, is an advantage.
Strong Accounting ethical standards and integrity.
Required Skills:
Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools
Familiarity with accounting software
Strong numerical and analytical skills
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Good organizational and record-keeping skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial information
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and within a team.
