KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


The coaches are responsible for discovering talents, developing skills, techniques, and strategies through designed training sessions, physical conditioning, and performance analysis.
They must create a safe, supportive environment, provide constructive feedback to the Board of the Federation, and prepare players for competitions within and outside Nigeria.
Key duties include planning, mentoring, and ensuring adherence to safety regulations.


Training & Instruction:


Skill Development: Teaching and improving fundamental skills, including proper grip, serving, footwork, and strokes (e.g., clears, drops, smashes).
Tactical Training: Developing game strategies, such as creating court space, recognizing opponent weaknesses, and creating specific singles or doubles match plans.
Session Planning: Designing and implementing daily practice plans, drills, and structured training programs taking into consideration new rules and regulations.


Player Performance & Development:


Individualized Coaching: Creating personalized development plans tailored to a player's unique skill level, goals, and needs.
Performance Analysis: Evaluating player performance through observation and video analysis to identify areas for improvement..
Physical Conditioning: Designing, conducting, or overseeing strength, endurance, agility, and flexibility exercises.


Competition Preparation & Management:


Tournament Preparation: Mentoring players, analysing opponents, and ensuring they are mentally and physically prepared for competitive events.
In-Match Coaching: Providing tactical advice and motivation during matches.
Logistics & Scheduling: Organizing participation in tournaments, matches, and training camps.


Safety, Ethics, and Administration:


Safety Management: Ensuring a safe training environment and minimizing injury risks. Advise and constantly educate players on anti-doping.
Mentorship: Fostering a positive, inclusive environment, promoting good sportsmanship, and ensuring fair treatment for all players.
Administration: Keeping records of training progress, attendance, and player performance analysis.


Coach Development (Advanced Roles):


Coach Mentorship: Training and supervising assistant coaches and developing coaching.


REQUIREMENTS

Key Qualifications and Certifications


Coaching Certifications: BWF (Badminton World Federation) Coach Education Levels 1, 2, or higher are preferred, or national governing body certifications (e.g., National Institute for Sports).
Education requirement: Minimum of secondary school certificate and must be computer literate, additional qualification will be an added advantage.


Ethical Requirements


Adherence to a code of conduct focusing on fair treatment, professional standards, and maintaining a safe learning environment.


Technical Knowledge and Experience


Playing Experience: Must have represented a state at national competition. Represented the country at any international level will be an added advantage.
Coaching Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience at both state or national. Prior experience in planning and delivering group or individual training sessions is an added advantage.
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of badminton-specific skills, including footwork, grip, strokes, and tactical game planning.


Core Skills and Abilities


Communication & Mentoring: Excellent interpersonal skills to work with players, parents, and other staff.
Analytical Ability: Skill in using video analysis tools to enhance player performance.
Planning: Ability to create both short-term training sessions and long-term annual training plans.
Flexibility: Willingness to work whenever needed.

Must not be above 55 years of age at the time of this application
