Overview
We are seeking a Lead Electronics and Embedded Engineer to own the electronic architecture, power systems, communications, and firmware of our hardware platforms.
The successful candidate will design and deliver the full electronic nervous system connecting physical hardware to software, in environments that are electrically and mechanically demanding.
Key Responsibilities
Design electronic systems including power management, sensor integration, communications hardware, and signal processing for platforms operating in maritime and rugged environments
Produce PCB schematics and layouts to production standard, managing design-for-manufacture considerations throughout
Own the power and energy architecture, a make-or-break constraint for platforms requiring extended autonomous operation
Develop and maintain firmware bridging hardware and the autonomy software stack
Own communications resilience across RF, satellite, and alternative communication modes for degraded-environment operation
Work daily alongside the mechanical lead and autonomy engineer to ensure full subsystem integration.
Requirements
Senior-level electronics and embedded systems engineering experience with a track record of hardware shipped to field
PCB design proficiency from schematic capture through to layout and production sign-off
Strong power electronics background including battery management, power conversion, and energy budgeting
Firmware development capability in C or C++ for embedded targets
Experience designing for maritime, subsea, or similarly demanding environments is strongly preferred
Nigerian nationals strongly preferred.
Preferred Background:
Experience with acoustic communication systems or underwater electronics
Familiarity with RF systems, satellite modems, or mesh communications in degraded environments
Background in defence or safety-critical electronics development.
