Job Description
Serve as the principal legal advisor to the CEO and executive leadership on corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters.
Provide strategic legal guidance to business units to support informed decision-making and effective risk management.
Lead the drafting, review, negotiation, and administration of all commercial and legal contracts across the Company.
Identify, assess, and proactively manage legal and contractual risks to protect the Company's interests.
Establish, improve, and oversee contract management processes, templates, and approval workflows.
Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations, including CAMA requirements and sector-specific regulations.
Oversee company secretarial functions, including Board and management meetings, resolutions, and governance documentation.
Manage engagement with external legal counsel, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
Support audits, licensing, permits, and regulatory filings through accurate documentation and timely submissions.
Provide legal support for trading, supply, project, and partnership activities in line with evolving business needsÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ
Requirements
Education
Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from a recognized university.
Barrister-at-Law (B.L), Nigerian Law School.
LL.M is an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum of 6 - 8 years' post-call experience, with strong exposure to commercial contracts and corporate legal practice.
Proven experience leading:
Contract negotiation and management
Regulatory compliance and licensing
Corporate governance and company secretarial functions
Experience within oil & gas, engineering, or project-driven environments is highly desirable.
Knowledge & Skills
Advanced knowledge of company, commercial, and contract law, including Nigerian Labor Law and regulatory frameworks.
Strong capability in risk identification, mitigation, dispute management, and contract lifecycle management.
Proven skills in commercial negotiations, leadership, and stakeholder management.
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
High ethical standards with strong confidentiality management.
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and contract management tools.
