Responsibilities
Title Verification & Due Diligence
Confirm ownership of property.
Check for encumbrances.
Review land records and ensure clean title before purchase or transfer.
Sale & Purchase Agreements
Draft, review, and negotiate Sale Agreements and Transfer Instruments.
Ensure terms comply with the Land Act, Land Registration Act, and other relevant laws.
Conveyance Documentation
Prepare or vet essential documents like:
Sale agreements
Transfer forms
Land Control Board consents
Stamp Duty assessment forms
Completion documents and registries filings
Registration & Transfer
Lodge documents at the Land Registry.
Ensure transfer and registration of new ownership.
Follow up to obtain new Title Deeds or Leases.
Leases & Tenancy Agreements
Draft and register leases or subleases.
Advise landlords and tenants on rights and obligations.
Advisory & Compliance
Advise on succession-related transfers (e.g., transmission after death).
Handle company land acquisitions, joint ventures, and property financing.
Ensure compliance with environmental, zoning, and planning laws.
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university.
Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law (KSL).
Admitted Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practicing certificate from the Law Society of Kenya (LSK).
Minimum 3 years of experience in conveyancing and property law.
In-depth understanding of Kenya's land and property laws, including the Land Act, Land Registration Act, and related statutes.
Proficiency in drafting and vetting conveyancing documents such as sale agreements, leases, and transfers.
Hands-on experience with ArdhiSasa, eCitizen, and manual land registry systems.
Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.
Strong integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
