Job Summary


We are seeking a highly skilled and commercially minded Legal Counsel to join our organization in the transportation industry.
The successful candidate will provide legal support across the company and its subsidiaries, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations while advising management on legal and regulatory risks across group operations.
This role requires a proactive legal professional who can support business growth across multiple entities while safeguarding the group's legal and compliance position.


Key Responsibilities


Provide legal advice and support to the parent company and its subsidiaries on corporate, commercial, regulatory, and transportation-related matters.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including service agreements, vendor contracts, partnerships, and customer agreements across the group.
Ensure compliance with applicable transportation, regulatory, and corporate laws and industry standards for all group entities.
Support corporate governance matters, including board documentation, statutory filings, and regulatory compliance for the company and its subsidiaries.
Identify, assess, and manage legal and regulatory risks associated with group operations.
Coordinate and liaise with regulators, external counsel, and other stakeholders on legal matters affecting the group.
Manage disputes, claims, and litigation matters across the company and its subsidiaries, including supervising external counsel where required.
Develop and implement group-wide legal policies, templates, and procedures to strengthen compliance and risk management frameworks.
Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations affecting the transportation industry and advise management and subsidiary leadership accordingly.
Provide ongoing legal support to operational, commercial, and management teams across the group.


Requirements / Qualifications


Bachelor's Degree in Law (LL.B) and qualification to practice law in Nigeria.
3 - 5 years post-qualification experience in corporate/commercial law, preferably with exposure to group structures, transportation, logistics, or infrastructure sectors.
Strong knowledge of Nigerian corporate, commercial, and regulatory law.
Proven experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts.
Experience supporting multiple business units or subsidiaries is a strong advantage.
Solid understanding of regulatory compliance and risk management in an operational business environment.
Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities across different entities.
High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional and multi-entity teams.
