Job Summary


We are seeking a competent and commercially astute Legal Counsel with proven experience in corporate law and property management to support the legal operations of our transportation company and its subsidiaries.
The successful candidate will provide legal advisory services across corporate, commercial, and real estate matters, ensuring regulatory compliance, effective contract management, and proper legal oversight of the company's property portfolio, leases, and infrastructure assets.
The role requires a detail-oriented professional capable of managing legal risks across multiple business entities within a dynamic operational environment.


Key Responsibilities
Corporate & Commercial Legal Services:


Provide legal advice to the company and its subsidiaries on corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters.
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, service contracts, partnership agreements, and vendor contracts.
Ensure compliance with applicable corporate governance and statutory requirements across all group entities.
Support board matters, regulatory filings, and corporate documentation.
Identify legal risks and recommend mitigation strategies aligned with business objectives.
Liaise with regulatory authorities, external solicitors, and relevant stakeholders on legal matters.
Manage disputes, claims, and litigation processes across the organization.


Property & Real Estate Management:


Provide legal oversight on company-owned and leased properties, terminals, offices, depots, and operational facilities.
Draft, review, and negotiate lease agreements, tenancy agreements, property acquisition documents, and facility management contracts.
Conduct due diligence on property acquisitions, disposals, and renewals.
Ensure compliance with land use regulations, property laws, and statutory documentation requirements.
Manage property-related disputes, tenancy issues, and landlord - tenant matters.
Maintain proper documentation and legal records relating to the company's real estate portfolio.


Requirements / Qualifications


Bachelor's Degree in Law (LL.B) and qualification to practice law in Nigeria.
A minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience, with demonstrable experience in corporate/commercial law and property or real estate management.
Strong knowledge of Nigerian corporate law, property law, and regulatory compliance requirements.
Experience handling leases, property transactions, and commercial contract negotiations.
Prior in-house experience supporting multi-entity or group structures is an advantage.
Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple legal matters simultaneously.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams across different subsidiaries.
