Job Purpose
The Legal Officers - Back Office will be responsible for managing warrants, proclamations, historical decrees, and legacy litigation matters within the Legal Department. The role entails diligent case follow-up, compliance with legal timelines, and systematic record management. The officers will contribute to the efficient handling of legacy cases and play a key role in reducing organizational exposure through timely reporting and accurate documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and update the Warrants & Proclamations Register, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely updates.
Liaise with branches, auctioneers, external advocates, and court registries to obtain regular updates on enforcement actions and case status.
Track decree aging and monitor settlement progress for all legacy litigation matters.
Prepare and submit daily case status reports and weekly exposure dashboards highlighting case positions and financial implications.
Support the in-house litigation team through consolidation of pleadings, decrees, correspondence, and instructions to facilitate timely legal action.
Manage and retrieve documents for ongoing and archived cases.
Ensure adherence to internal procedures and promptly escalate matters requiring management attention.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university.
Postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law.
Current Practicing Certificate.
At least 3 years post-admission experience in back office/civil litigation.
Insurance experience is an added advantage.
