We have a new vacancy at Emerald Publishing, which is part of the Emerald Group. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Legal Operations Administrator to join us, to help shape our growth and support Emerald Group as part of the central Legal and Ethics team.

We are looking for a dedicated team member who can communicate complex issues with people at all levels and who understands and exceeds both our internal and external customer requirements.

Location: We perform at our best when we feel trusted and are able to choose an approach to working that suits us best, which is why we are a remote-first company. However, we also believe in face to face collaboration, and our UK colleagues meet once a month for team time and quarterly for company get togethers in our Leeds office, so we ask that you be within a commutable distance that you are comfortable with in order to attend the office on those occasions.

Day to day we’ll trust you to:   
Contract Management & Legal Support
  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and issuing standard sales contracts using approved templates and guidelines.
  • Ensure all contract terms are accurately recorded and stored in the contract management system. 
  • Support the creation and tracking of bespoke licence agreements and amendments.
  • Respond to routine contractual queries and escalate complex issues to legal counsel.
  • Issue contracts for electronic signature and support the sales team with tender documentation.
  • Develop a basic understanding of the company’s products, services and business models.
  • Management of permissions requests to reproduce Emeralds content in line with standard guidelines.
Governance & Compliance
  • Support the development and maintenance of governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor compliance with internal policies and external regulations (e.g., GDPR, FCA).
  • Maintain compliance registers and assist with internal audits and risk assessments.
  • Escalate breaches or non-compliance issues and support investigations.
  • Assist in preparing governance reports and materials for leadership and board committees.
Operational & Stakeholder Support
  • Liaise with internal teams to ensure alignment with governance and compliance requirements.
  • Review and maintain internal guidance and supporting documentation
  • Assist with process documentation and suggest improvements where appropriate. 
  • Support training delivery on contractual and compliance procedures.
Data Integrity & Reporting
  • Ensure contracts and compliance records are stored and retrievable for audit and reporting purposes.
  • Work in line with data protection policies and maintain audit trails.
  • Generate basic reports on contract and compliance activity.


You’ll need to have:   
Skills & Competencies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
  • Comfortable using contract management or CRM systems
Experience 
  • Experience in a governance, compliance, legal operations, or contract administration role
  • Experience using contract management systems is desirable
